Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called a meeting of its top office bearers and senior leaders at its headquarters in Srinagar on September 3, 2020.
Party spokesman and media advisor Syed Suhail Bukhari in a statement issued here on Tuesday afternoon said that Party General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura has called a meeting of the senior party leadership and functionaries at PDP headquarters in Srinagar on September 3 at 1100 hrs.
He said threadbare discussion would be held on the prevailing political situation, and general party affairs.
This will be for the first time PDP has called meeting of its leaders since August 5, 2019 when centre abrogated Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories (UTs). All mainstream leaders, including three former Chief Ministers—Mehbooba Mufti, Dr Farooq Abdulah and his son Omar Abdullah, were detained. However, barring Mehbooba, who has now been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) all other leaders have been released.The PDP said a number of party leaders were again put under house arrest after their release from detention.
Police recently foiled a PDP attempt to took out a procession from party headquarter and helda number of leaders who were demanding release of Mehbooba Mufti and other leaders.A meeting was also called by PDP patron Muzaffar Hussain Baig which was later postponed after some rift within the party.
